Summer Theater Production of "The Wizard of Oz"

As part of the 21st Century Program, students from both the Pennsauken Campus and Gloucester Township participated in the 2010 summer theater production of "The Wizard of Oz." Under the direction of Mr. Tony DePrince, Mrs. Terry Bles, Mr. Ryan Hewitt, and Mr. Frank Williams, more than 40 students participated in various aspects such as performers, lighting and sound, costume design, stage crew, and set designers.

Instrumental Band
Performs for the First Time

Under the direction of CCTS Music Instructor Ryan Hewitt, the new CCTS Jazz Band performed at the Third Annual Spring Arts Festival for the first time on June 4, 2010. This new ensemble is an after school program offered as part of the district’s 21st Century Community Learning Center’s Program, a grant program from the New Jersey Department of Education that provides after school programs 5 days a week at both campuses as well as a summer program. The Jazz Band which formed in February, and has only been meeting one day a week after school, managed to master four numbers in a very short amount of time. Mr. Hewitt stated, "we look forward to expanding this program to two days a week next year and providing not only a spring concert, but a winter concert as well."

Recently the jazz band performed a concert for the school’s early childhood program (see photos). Mr. Hewitt and the students spoke to the preschoolers about their different instruments and played several jazz selections.

Dedication Ceremony

CCTS students, staff, and representa-tives from Camden County hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 13th at 3:30 pm at the Pennsauken Campus.

The new 47,400 square-foot, two-story building houses four state-of-the-art science labs, sixteen class-rooms, a horticulture career program, and two spacious meeting room facilities. The building is furnished and equipped with the latest technology and welcomed the first group of students a few weeks ago.

"This ribbon cutting ceremony was our way to say thank you to the many individuals who helped us get here – freeholders, board members, our business and college partners, staff, consultants, lawyers, architects, contractors, and state officials," said Dr. Albert Monillas, Superintendent.
