Biographies
Biographies do not have call numbers. The spine label for a biography consists of the letters "BIO" or "B" for biography, followed by the first three letters of the person's last name, not the author's name. Biographies are shelved in order by the person's name. If there is more than one biography about the same person, the books are shelved in order by the author's last name.
Fiction Books
Fiction books (novels and short stories) do not have a call number. The spine label consists of the letters "FIC" or "F" for fiction, followed by the first three letters of the author's last name. The books are shelved in order by the author's last name. If there is more than one fiction book written by the same author, the books are shelved in alphabetical order by title.
Reference Books
All reference books have call numbers. However, the letters "REF" or "R" appear in front of the call number. The reference books are shelved in the reference area and may not be checked out. |
