Credit for Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
The Camden County Technical School district is accredited by
the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET). As a result, Continuing Education Units may be awarded to
adults who successfully complete a course and/or a program of study.
The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is an internationally accepted
measure of documenting the successful completion of continuing
education and training experiences. One CEU is equal to ten (10)
contact hours of participation in a continuing education experience
supervised by a CEU accredited institution.
Clinical
Affiliations/Externships
Many of our students receive "on-the-job" training by spending
part of the time during the school year assisting and/or observing
professionals in their field of study instead of attending classes.
In most cases these are non-paid assignments; however, many times
employment is gained through these affiliations and externships.
Lifetime Job Placement Assistance
Graduates of the Technical Institute receive free lifetime job
placement assistance. The district maintains a computer network that
accesses employment opportunities in New Jersey and across the
nation. Employers register their needs in our job placement office.
Through this service, students are given the opportunity to
contact interested employers in their specific career fields.
Graduates may return to school to use this service throughout their
lifetime.
For more information, employers and graduates may call
856-767-7002, ext. 5265.
Apprenticeships
The Technical Institute currently offers
approved apprenticeship programs in 12 trade areas. A full-time
apprentice coordinator is available to initiate apprentice agreements
for qualified students wishing to secure positions in technical or
trade areas. The apprentice program is a partnership between labor,
industry, and education.
Apprentices are required to take a minimum
of 144 hours of classroom instruction per year and 48 months of
on-the-job training. The classroom instruction is intended to aid
students both in theory and practical experiences, and emphasis is
placed on those areas not covered on the job.
In order to attend an apprenticeship
course, a student must be employed full-time in his/her chosen field
and must have a company or union willing to act as a sponsor. A
certified apprenticeship serves both men and women who are at least
18 years old (unless an under age applicant is enrolled in a specific
vocational program which provides exceptions.)
All registered apprentices who successfully
complete their on-the-job and related training requirements are
eligible for completion certificates from both the federal government
and the New Jersey Department of Education.
For more information and tuition rates,
please contact the Apprentice Coordinator at 767-7002, ext. 5267.
NOTE: Customized apprenticeship courses
in other specific occupational areas may be developed to fit your
particular needs.
