Performing Arts Academy

The administration at Camden County Technical Schools is pleased to announce they will be opening a Performing Arts Academy in September 2008.  Eighth graders are now being recruited for what is anticipated to be a highly sought after program at the district’s Gloucester Township Campus. Parents are encouraged to apply early to ensure their child’s placement.  And the best news is, tuition and transportation are both FREE for residents of Camden County!

            The Academy approach will allow students and faculty to work within the confines of a “small learning community” which will offer opportunities for enhanced academic and career success.  Research suggests a direct correlation between involvement in music and the arts and increased mathematics,

critical thinking and language arts skills. 

            Students who successfully complete the program will earn a New Jersey high school diploma

as well as college transferable credits so they may continue their education if they choose to do so.  In

addition, free lifetime job placement assistance is available to our graduates.

            All students at CCTS are offered the opportunity to participate in one or more of our many sports, clubs and/or activities, as well as mentorship, job shadowing and cooperative education employment opportunities during their junior and senior years. 

            To be considered for admission, interested students need to submit:

            • A CCTS application along with all necessary information such as their birth certificate, placement test scores (call CCTS guidance office for test dates), standardized test scores and copy

              of report card.

            • A letter of recommendation (in reference to the student’s level of interest and commitment to the performing arts)

            • A statement of interest written by the applicant.  The student should explain why he/she wants to pursue a program in the performing arts and any experience in this area.
